My name is David, and with my wife, Debbie, and our children Jessica and Elliot, have lived here in Spain
since February 2001. We used to own, show, and breed Newfoundlands in the UK. We have also owned Estrela Mountain
Dogs, and have handled and shown Samoyeds up to Championship Level. As we are all dog lovers, and our home felt
empty without one, we decided to find another breed, with as many similarities to the Newfoundland as possible, but would
also be suitable to apartment living, and able to withstand the Spanish heat. One day we saw two chocolate coloured
dogs with long curly coats, (Spanish Water Dogs) which we thought were wonderful. We asked the owner about the breed and
decided to research them on the internet. We found and bought our first male, Dino, from the Jmacelia kennels
in Benoacaz near Ronda. Apartment living is now a distant memory and we live on a finca in the beautiful Malaga
countryside. Along the way we have bought, rescued and re-homed several more Spanish Water Dogs, bringing the current total
to fourteen.

| Dino |
Our first dog Berru de Jmacelia (Dino).
As a breed they are intelligent and faithful with the added bonus of not moulting. They
love swimming, (they have webbed feet to help them), and agility work. Some dogs
work with the Fire Brigade and Police. They are also used for herding sheep and goats.
We are members of both the Spanish Water Dog Club in England and the Perro de Agua Español
club here in Spain. Our Affix has now been approved by the Kennel Club of Spain as Jesselliot (012746).
